How to Cloak Your Affiliate Links

here if you're new to the channel i do.
websites and online business systems.
both done for you and diy.
and today we're going to talk about a.
plug-in called pretty links this is.
something that you.
would use to what they call cloak a link.
so if you have.
even a bitly link is sort of like a.
cloaked link.
that shortens it but you don't like the.
bitly slash whatever if it's not easy to.
remember.
you can actually create a cloaked link.
using your own domain.
so i'll show you what i'm talking about.
um for instance.
i have an affiliate program with divi um.
the theme so if i.
type in.
dot kcocreative. com slash divi this is.
my affiliate link so it's not going to.
be the divi dot com.
slash all of that mumbo jumbo for my.
affiliate number.
but it'll redirect right here and it.
will track.
as if i generated an affiliate lead if.
somebody buys.
so it's really you know best used for.
affiliate programs um it can also be.
used for anything where you want to.
clean up a link podcasts are great so.
for a podcast um.
i have one so like you see them say that.
forward slash the number all the time.
so for slash episode six it's going to.
redirect.
to episode six of course.
for some reason that did not go through.
i wonder why six didn't work sorry about.
that.
that was probably user error not an.
issue with the plug-in but you see that.
what i typed in was boozybitties. com.
forward slash 7 but the actual link is.
episode 7 the judgment of paris.
so it's great for that use as well so.
where do you find it.
it's you know simple wordpress plugin if.
you go to your plugins.
and you go to add a new one and search.
for pretty it comes up as pretty links.
obviously you don't have it downloaded.
you're gonna have to do that and.
download it and activate it.
once it's active.
you will find it in your menu bar you.
might have to reload it once.
so here i have it so you can see all my.
pretty links.
um so here you can give them a title and.
then it will have a unique.
tag so to add a new one you come up here.
to add new.
and you would grab your affiliate link.
or whatever link you're looking to cloak.
and you'll put that in your target url.
so let's say we're going to do.
this one for some reason put that in.
here um i like to make them permanent.
this basically just means that like.
you're always going to want.
you're telling the internet like this.
new link you're creating is always going.
to redirect to the other one it's not.
temporary.
um and i'm going to say like.
podcast this is the.
new link you're giving it at your url.
and then you can name it so that it's.
easy for you to find so this is going to.
be the boozy beauty podcast.
see busy's breezy bitties podcast.
um and we hit update it's going to.
publish that link.
and now you'll see if i copy the entire.
link.
kco creative. com podcast.
it redirects to the boozy babies episode.
page so super simple this is a super.
quick tutorial but it's a really useful.
tool that i find a lot of people.
who could benefit from don't know about.
so go ahead and download it and give it.
