ActiveCampaign
Connect Post Affiliate Pro with ActiveCampaign to add every newly approved affiliate to your ActiveCampaign lists, keep their details up to date, and optionally remove them when they are deleted.
ActiveCampaign user synchronization integration
ActiveCampaign is an email marketing and automation platform. The Post Affiliate Pro plugin connects it to your affiliate program, so every affiliate you approve becomes a contact in ActiveCampaign without any manual export or import.
The plugin handles three moments in an affiliate’s life:
- Approved for the first time: a new contact is created in ActiveCampaign and added to the lists you define.
- Updated: when the affiliate’s details change, the contact is updated as well (enabled by default).
- Deleted: when the affiliate is deleted, the matching contact is deleted too (disabled by default, you turn it on).
NOTE: The synchronization runs one way, from Post Affiliate Pro to ActiveCampaign. Contacts that exist only in ActiveCampaign are not turned into affiliates.
How to integrate Post Affiliate Pro with ActiveCampaign
Get your ActiveCampaign API details
Log in to your ActiveCampaign account and navigate to My Settings > Developer > API Access. Copy your API URL and API key, you will need both in the next step. Also note the ID of every list you want affiliates to be added to.
Activate the plugin
In your merchant panel navigate to Configuration > Plugins > ActiveCampaign user synchronization > Activate. Then fill in the configuration:
- API URL: the URL of your ActiveCampaign API.
- API key: the API key from ActiveCampaign.
- List IDs: the lists new affiliates should be added to. Enter comma separated IDs, or use rules (see below) to send different affiliates to different lists.
- Update customer: updates the ActiveCampaign contact after a detail in the affiliate account is changed. Enabled by default.
- Delete customer: deletes the ActiveCampaign contact when the affiliate is deleted. Disabled by default.
- Send more affiliate details: lets you save additional affiliate values into ActiveCampaign custom fields.
Each field has a hint in the plugin, so you should have no problem setting it up.
Add affiliates to different lists with rules
To put affiliates into different lists, write one rule per line in the List IDs field. A rule has the form field=value;list IDs. A line without a rule applies to everyone. For example:
12
data5=US;15,16
data5!=DE;17
In this example every new affiliate is added to list 12. Here data5 is the code of a country field in the signup form. Affiliates whose country equals US are also added to lists 15 and 16, and affiliates whose country is not DE are also added to list 17. Rules can use standard fields such as username or firstname, and signup form fields, which have codes like data1 to data25. Use the code of your own field.
Send more details to custom fields
Enable Send more affiliate details to fill ActiveCampaign custom fields. For each of up to 10 rows, enter the ID of the ActiveCampaign custom field and select which affiliate value should be saved into it. You can also choose the same value from the affiliate’s parent, which is useful when you run a multi-tier program and want to know who recruited whom.
Test the integration
Approve a test affiliate and check that the contact appears in the right ActiveCampaign lists. Change one of the affiliate’s details and confirm the contact is updated. If something doesn’t arrive, check the signup log in your merchant panel, the plugin writes its steps and any errors there.
How does the plugin work exactly?
The plugin reacts to events on the affiliate record in Post Affiliate Pro:
- An affiliate is approved for the first time, either by you or automatically under your affiliate approval settings. The plugin creates the contact with the affiliate’s email, first name, and last name, adds it to the matching lists, and fills any mapped custom fields. The plugin does nothing if the API URL, API key, or list IDs are missing.
- The affiliate’s details are saved. If Update customer is on, the plugin finds the contact in ActiveCampaign by email address and sends the new data.
- The affiliate is deleted. If Delete customer is on, the plugin finds the contact by email address and deletes it.
Only affiliates are synchronized, merchants are ignored. Affiliates who are still pending or were declined are never sent to ActiveCampaign, so your lists only contain people who are active in your program.
Use case: onboarding new affiliates automatically
Say you run a SaaS affiliate program and approve a handful of new affiliates every week. Without the integration, someone has to copy each affiliate’s email address into ActiveCampaign and enroll them in a welcome sequence by hand, and a few always get missed.
With the plugin activated, every approved affiliate arrives in ActiveCampaign on its own. If you serve several markets, a rule on the country field can drop each affiliate into the right regional list, and an ActiveCampaign automation can start the matching onboarding series: a welcome message, a walkthrough of your marketing materials, and a reminder to grab their first affiliate link.
Use ActiveCampaign for this nurturing, and keep the email templates and notifications built into Post Affiliate Pro for transactional messages such as commission and payout notices.
What is ActiveCampaign?
ActiveCampaign is a customer experience automation platform that combines email marketing, marketing automation, and a built-in CRM. It lets you segment contacts, tag them based on their behavior, and trigger automated sequences from events such as a new signup or a link click.
For affiliate managers, this means you can treat affiliates as a dedicated audience. You can build separate lists for new, active, and top performing affiliates, send each group the right content, and see which messages get them promoting again.
Other email marketing integrations
Post Affiliate Pro also integrates with other email marketing tools. See the AWeber and MailChimp user synchronization guides, or browse all integrations .
