How Post Affiliate Pro tracks its AI visibility with AmICited

Disclosure: this is a first-party account. We describe how we use AmICited for Post Affiliate Pro, not an independent review.

Quick answer

AmICited lets us see how AI assistants talk about Post Affiliate Pro: whether we are mentioned, whether our pages are cited, and which sources shape the answer instead. It gave us a view that rankings and traffic reports cannot, and it changed how we plan and update content.

The problem: we could not see AI answers

Affiliate software buyers increasingly start with a question to an AI assistant: “What is the best affiliate tracking software?” or “Which tool handles recurring commissions?” The assistant answers in a few paragraphs, names a handful of products and cites a few sources.

Our usual reporting could not tell us anything about that moment. Search rankings measured one thing, analytics measured visits, and neither could say whether we were in the answer at all. We were optimizing content without knowing whether AI platforms were using it.

How the tracking works

We use AmICited as a loop:

The AI visibility tracking loop: choose prompts, run them regularly, record results, review and act

  1. Choose prompts. We list the questions a real buyer would ask, grouped by intent.
  2. Run them regularly. AmICited asks the same prompts across several AI platforms, so we see trends rather than a single lucky or unlucky answer.
  3. Record the result. For every answer it notes whether Post Affiliate Pro is mentioned, whether our own pages are cited, and which other domains are cited.
  4. Review and act. We look for patterns, update or write content, and watch whether the pattern shifts.

The prompts fall into a few groups:

Prompt typeExample question
BuyingWhat is the best affiliate software for an online store?
BuyingWhich affiliate platform supports recurring commissions?

What it showed us

Sources that feed AI answers: our own site, competitors, YouTube, comparison articles, review platforms, Reddit and LinkedIn

  • We win on definitions. For educational questions such as “What is commission reversal rate?”, “What is a forced matrix?” or “What is a mass affiliate payout?”, Post Affiliate Pro is often the first brand an assistant names. Our glossary and how-to content is doing its job.
  • Broad “best software” questions are harder. There, assistants pull from comparison articles and a crowded field of affiliate platforms, and our share of those answers is more modest.
  • Our own site is one of the sources AI engines use most. That is encouraging, but it sits alongside competitors’ sites, review platforms and software directories.
  • YouTube dominates the cited sources. “Best affiliate software” roundup videos are cited more than any single website.
  • Third-party listicles shape the answer. The off-site pages that get cited most are comparison and “best tools” articles, many written by competitors or review sites.
  • Communities and professional networks matter. Affiliate marketing subreddits and LinkedIn posts appear regularly as cited sources.

None of this appears in a rankings report. All of it points to concrete content work.

What we changed in our process

  • Prompts guide the content calendar. Questions where we are absent become briefs for new pages or updates to existing ones.
  • We keep investing in definitions. Glossary and explainer pages are where we are strongest, so we extend them to adjacent terms.
  • We answer the question directly. Pages open with a short, plain answer that an assistant can quote accurately.
  • We look beyond our own domain. Because video, review sites and communities shape answers, we plan for them: being included in comparison articles, and publishing video and community answers, not only blog posts.
  • We keep key pages current. Pricing, features and integrations are reviewed regularly so assistants don’t repeat outdated information.
  • We check after we publish. Changes are followed in AmICited so we learn what worked instead of assuming.

Next steps: language sites

Post Affiliate Pro runs in several languages, and AI answers vary by language and market. Next we plan to build prompt sets for our language sites and see where visibility differs, then apply the same loop there.
